Article like this really piss me off. The people that we supposedly vote in to office pander to the pockets of large corporations instead of serving the people, corporations and governments meddle in the affairs of the internet which I may note is practically a country of it’s own now. When the government no longer gives a shit about it’s constituents and instead exercises the will of corporation for profit something is severely wrong. With all regard I love this country and what it is supposed to stand for but there comes a day when you just have to say fuck this shit and take a stand. So for the entire year of 2008 I am not going to rent a single movie, go to a single movie theatre, I will not buy a single cd or even a single song from an online store. I will not attend the concert of any artist signed to a label in any way associated with the riaa. I will download movies and cds I don’t even watch just to upload them and further hurt the bank accounts of these companies. For too long they have been getting away with putting viruses on our internet, rootkits on our cds and dvds. They want to dictate how we watch and listen the media that we pay for time and time again. Fuck them. It is time to enact change, so get out there and vote, hijack a server, punch a ceo in the taint, do whatever it takes. I hate to quote an old credo here, but information should be free, no one owns the data. It is not their place to say what we can and can’t do with it.

You are right. We have to take our ball and go home. If nobody buys their crap, the entertainment cartels will just shrivel up and die. (Throwing the biggest tantrum you can imagine on their way out, of course.) Besides, who needs them anymore? People can make their own music and even movies.
