On time for once.

Date April 22, 2008

Hey look, I’m updating on a tuesday. I’ve got to be up nice and early tomorrow because I have a phone interview with apple for some of the closer stores since they may be expanding soon. Haven’t been up to terrible much except for trying desperately to find a job. I really need to get logo and design crap for westcoastgeeks but haven’t been able to find much time to talk with all the designer friends. Started to help one of my friends set up a 3d design blog, need to get around to helping her finish getting it up as we kinda forgot about working on it while waiting for the hosting account to go live.

In completely unrelated news, Twitter has been starting to try my nerves. It is becoming just another friendwhoring outled. I really enjoyed twitter when it was relevant but now it is mostly people going around trying to add random people just so they have more friends, and also becoming a vessel for spam. All the retweets, overheards, conversations that should be directs messages, and linking of general crap that is already on rss feeds is really making it irrelevant very fast.

I think Twitter has phase-shifts that are dependent primarily on the number of people you follow, and those who follow you to lesser degree.

My approach to combat the irrelevancy and actually keep Twitter as a useful tool has been to be very selective of those I follow. I have several close friends that I do not follow for one reason or another. Probably because they do a lot of what you outlined before. I like to keep my list of “following” to a hundred, but it’s been creeping up lately.

I use Twitterific, so any replies come right to me. I also track my name and a few other topics straight to my phone, so I’m not missing out on conversations that I want to be a part of. I just cut down the noise level.
